Fiona Bruce, Action Partners President, said: “On behalf of Action Medical Research, I am thrilled to accept this cheque for an amount which could help change the lives of many children across the UK.

I would like to congratulate all those who dedicated their time and efforts to such a great cause, and thank British Land for matching the amount raised by the cyclists.”

Hans Wustefeld, General Manager of Eastgate Shopping said, “I am really proud of the team here at Eastgate who dedicated a considerable amount of time and effort to this wonderful cause.”

Chris Grigg, Chief Executive of British Land said, “We’re pleased to have been able to support Action Medical Research.  The team at Eastgate has done a great job.”

The money was raised by employees of the British Land-owned Eastgate Shopping Centre in Basildon, Essex, who, after months of training, cycled from London to Paris in aid of Action Medical Research.

Eastgate and Kingswood supported for the third consecutive year the famous Take Action London to Paris bike ride raising funds for vital medical research. Action Medical Research specialises in children’s health, tackling problems affecting pregnancy, childbirth, babies, children and adolescents.

For most families it is a time of immense joy and relief when their child is born safely. But not all births go as expected.  Each year in the UK 70,000 newborn babies need special care. Sadly, 50,000 babies are born prematurely.

We at Eastgate and Club Kingswood are ACTION PARTNERS and committed to support the charity. last year Eastgate raised, through the Giraffe Appeal, enough money to donate an incubator to Basildon University Hospital.
